Adamson Family Reunion - July 18-20

The Jamison's were in charge of our Adamson Family Reunion this year.  We headed up to Oregon on July 17th stopping over in Idaho (about 4 hours into our trip) that night.  We had just fallen a sleep around 11:30 p.m. when we woke up around 1:00 a.m. to a very loud noise going off.  We were kind of in a daze not really quite awake yet.  We realized it was the fire alarm so Byron stood on top of our bed and was fanning the smoke detector with his clothes.  When nothing made the noise stop, he opened the door and realized the whole building was going off.  We quickly got all of the kids up, grabbed clothes and shoes and went outside.  It was pretty crazy!  We went over to our van to wait it out while Byron stayed outside to try to find out what was going on.  After about 15 minutes they finally went off.  I guess it was just a false alarm.  Bradley didn't wake up through this whole ordeal - he must have been pretty tired :).  We went back up to our room and ended up sleeping pretty well for the remainder of the night.

The next morning we went down to eat breakfast.  They had hard boiled eggs that had just came out of the fridge.  Byron decided to put his in the microwave to warm it up.  He sat down with his food, put his fork into the egg and all of a sudden we heard this loud boom as the egg blew up right in front of Byron getting all over his clothes, Parker and the table.  It was pretty scary at first as we didn't know what the loud noise was, then we couldn't quit laughing.  It was pretty hilarious.  A couple sitting at the table next to us jumped really high when this happened.  I guess they were still a little jittery from the crazy happenings during the night.

Our reunion was held in Barton Park in Oregon City, Oregon.  It is a gorgeous area with a lot of trees.  There is also in the middle of the park a large field area that has a volleyball court and play set.   Oregon is such a beautiful state - so green and pretty.  We started out by getting our tent set up.  We set up 2 tents, one for the older boys and one for the rest of us.  It was just so much fun hanging out and being together.  Everybody was able to come from our family except for Mark and Paul.  Mark was in school and Paul was really sick at home.

The cousins all had a great time hanging out with each other.  Some fun activities we did were play volleyball with a huge blow up ball, game of kickball, have a water gun fight with colored water, playing at the beautiful Clackamas river, and tie dye shirts.  There was also tons of talking and enjoying each other's company.
The bugs were crazy in Idaho - we got a laugh out of how long the squeegee was at this particular gas station in Idaho.  It did the job really well.  Apparently they have a big problem with bugs.

These 4 had so much fun hanging out together - they are so close in age and rarely see each other.  Rose, Myles, Bradley & Tavis hanging out in Jared & Danielle's tent.

The campfire became a huge area to congregate around, especially for the younger kids.  Michael was great at keeping the fire started and going.

This banana slug was amazing!  I had never seen something so large.  It was really big and then as it started getting scared shrunk a ton.  It was about 8 inches long at one time.  Byron put his hand out to compare sizes.  The kids were all fascinated with this also.
