May 2010

HOPE OF AMERICA - May 4, 2010 - Tanner was able to participate in "Hope of America" with many 5th graders from all over Utah county. 72 schools were represented in two separate shows that was held at BYU's Marriott Center. Tanner's show was on Tuesday night. He had been practicing in his class at school for many months learning the songs along with hand motions. We all know the songs really well in our family since Camille got a CD of the music back when she was in 5th grade. The music is so inspirational and fun to sing. As we sat there watching Tanner participate in it, my other children had fun singing along. Camille & Byron had to miss it due to other things going on, but the rest of us had a great time. Cooper, Tanner's cousin, participated in it also on the Wednesday night instead. We were hoping to see him there until we heard later that they were part of the other show. The colors looked awesome with all of the kids sitting together. Tanner was on the top right in yellow.
BRADLEY - Bradley & I were able to go with Becky Wilcox, Eli & Taylee to Thanksgiving Point Farm Country while the kids were in school. We had not been for a while, so it was really fun to Bradley to see all of the animals. We had fun going around to the different animals and exhibits. We also had fun going on a wagon ride together.

MOTHERS DAY - May 9, 2010 - How fortunate I feel to be blessed with an amazing husband and 6 children!!! I feel like I am one of the luckiest people around. I was able to relax and enjoy being taken care of. I got some awesome gifts from my children that they made in school.

BBQ - I had promised the children that we would cook hot dogs outside for dinner. By the time dinner rolled around it was starting to get dark outside and the rain started. This didn't stop my children, though. They were excited to set up umbrellas and go along with the initial plans. Luckily we didn't burn any holes in the umbrellas in the process:). It was fun to be outside with each other. Byron joined us towards the end. The kids are becoming great roasters.

Camille and her perfectly roasted marshmallow.

CAMILLE - Camille kept us busy during the month of May with so many different things going on. She had her "Completion Celebration" where she was able to move up to 9th grade. It was a pretty short program, but included a cool slide show with all of the kids in 8th grade. She is officially in High School now - pretty crazy! Where has the time gone? I can so vividly remember that time in my life and now she is experiencing it.

Camille at her last choir concert. They sang a really fun rendition of "With Love, from MoTown Medley." Camille had a small solo part that was really fun to watch.

Since March Camille has been in an early morning Ballroom dance class. She has absolutely loved it. On May 15th the class participated in the Junior High Ballroom Dance Festival. Camille partnered with Kyson. I really didn't even know what to expect at all upon going. Camille and Kyson danced in the category of "Cha Cha." There were about 100 couples that started out. Then the judges keep going down to smaller and smaller groups. Camille and Kyson got down to the final 7 to dance and took 7th place! I loved watching them interact with each other on the floor. They were actually very fun to watch and good. Since I can't get any video to upload right now I will have to wait on posting them dancing.

PINEWOOD DERBY - May 20, 2010 - Johnathan was so excited for this day to arrive. Since Carter & Parker weren't 8 yet and Tanner is now in the 11 year old scouts, Johnathan was the only boy that had to make a car this year. Johnathan came up with the design all by himself and had Byron just help him cut it out. He wanted to make a football. He spent a lot of time sanding it down just perfectly and then painted it all by himself. He was pretty proud of his completed car.

Johnathan did pretty awesome during the 4 races he was in. His car came in first three runs and second for one run. He didn't place in the top 3, but came home with a huge smile on his face.
Johnathan was so excited for the races to begin.
Grandpa & Grandma Beck were so nice to come and support Johnathan.

Johnathan got the certificate for "Touchdown" award.

MEMORIAL DAY - May 31, 2010 - We always look forward to going around to all of the graves in our area to celebrate Memorial Day. We go to a total of 4 cemeteries every time - American Fork, Lehi, Bountiful and Salt Lake. My children always look forward to this time. Carter Blaine is named after my Grandpa Adamson - Karl Blaine. Carter was excited to have a picture next to his namesake.
All of my children and I in front of my Grandparent's grave. These two people mean the world to me. I can't believe it has been so long since my Grandma Adamson passed away. Carter & Parker were 3 mos. old when she died. The thought that so many of my children don't remember her very well makes me so sad. My grandpa Adamson died when I was 14 years old. I miss him so much also and can't wait to see him again and have my children and husband meet him.

Tanner Byron Beck is in this picture with the 3 other "Byron" names - Byron and John Byron. The grave is of the first "Byron" in the family - Byron Leonard Beck. The only one missing is Byron's grandpa - Harold Byron who is buried in the Lehi cemetery. Pretty cool for Tanner to be one of 5 Byron's in a row.
Bradley saw this gravestone with his name on it and had to get a picture.

Enjoying each other at the American Fork cemetery.
The coolest tree is found at the American Fork cemetery that all of the kids love to climb. They were happy to all get inside of it. Carter, Tanner, Johnathan, Bradley, Camille & Parker
Parker Nevin Beck is named after "Robert Nevin Cooper." It is fun to see the headstones of those that our kids are named after to help them realize what awesome men they come from.

We met up with the Ashby's at the Bountiful cemetary. The kids had fun playing with Uncle Dallin. Vanner Jr. and Diantha (my cousins) also met up with us at the cemetary - it was so fun to see their families and how much their children have grown.
All of us in front of Johanna's grave - I always look forward to seeing her grave every year and have that reminder that we will one day have a sweet daughter to raise. I love and miss her so much. What an awesome day to see her again one day!
