April happenings

I am going to try to play catch up on my blog - my have I let it fall behind.
We went to the Discovery Gardens at Thanksgiving Point one evening in April. We were hoping to enjoy the water area, but that wasn't open. Instead we enjoyed walking around and seeing the beautiful tulips that were in bloom. The kids always have a great time enjoying the lighthouse, mazes, fish and just exploring everything that is there. They had a new area this time that we had never seen before. It was fun for the kids to enjoy something new and were loving the time we had there.
Tanner, Johnathan, Parker, Bradley, Camille & Carter

For Byron's birthday, we had a hotdog roast the day before since he had a scout campout on his birthday. I bought him a fire pit for his birthday and we had fun roasting hotdogs with it. Everybody seemed to have a great time and then we ended with marshmallows and ice-cream. (As a side note - we sat the pit in the middle of our backyard not even thinking that this might not be the best place to put it. It ended up burning a nice 16" circle that is still trying to grow back as of July 4th. It is, however, a great reminder of Byron's fun birthday every time I see it :).

Carter lost his first tooth and was so excited to finally have it fall out. It had been bugging him for a few days previous. He just started twisting it back and forth and it fell out.
Camille had her wisdom teeth pulled out on April 16th at 10 a.m. She had problems with some of her teeth coming in slanted which were keeping other teeth from coming in. So she had them removed along with another tooth pulled at the same time that didn't have a permanent tooth under it. She was a trooper. Camille was terrified to have an IV, but luckily she seemed pretty calm when I walked her back to the room. I said, "Bye" and had to return to the waiting room. After about one hour of waiting, I was told she was done. I went back and she was just regaining conscienceness. She couldn't believe it was all over. I was so grateful that she calmed down enough to not stress about everything and actually fell asleep without realizing what was happening. Since most patients for wisdom teeth removal are much older, the nurses were amazed at how well Camille did for her age. They told me that she earned the award for the best patient of the day. They couldn't believe how calm she was. I was so proud of her overcoming a huge fear of hers. Since her wisdom teeth were so deep in her mouth, there was a concern for more swelling and pain. She did have quite a bit of swelling and pain over the weekend, but did great. She loved eating shakes and watching TV around the clock.
Byron was able to attend a scout overnighter on his birthday. He was very excited as he put on his scout backpack with all of his belongs. He went out west of us to camp by Utah Lake. Around 11 p.m., the scouts were all playing "Capture the Flag" with flashlights. Byron had the flag and was being chased by another leader. Byron jumped over a big bush and somehow ended up landing straight on his stomach. He called me that night and told me he thought he had broken one of his ribs - what a great birthday present, right!

After Byron returned home the next day, I made an appointment for him to have his ribs checked. He ended up not breaking his ribs, but the cartilage that is between the ribs and the sternum popped out of place causing some major pain. He was in so much pain for the next week. We heard that having this happen is more painful than actually breaking a rib because every time you cough or move wrong it can cause the cartilage to pop out again. Sounds miserable! He was such a trooper and didn't complain much about it.
Carter started taking piano lessons back in March with Laura Long - she lives in our ward. He was showing such a huge interest in taking lessons that I had a hard time not jumping on the opportunity. After he started taking lessons, Tanner, Parker & Johnathan grew a huge interest in taking also. They kept on asking me to teach them different songs. It was fun seeing the 4 of them constantly fighting for piano time. Never did I realize that paying for one child in piano lessons would actually teach 4 children:).

Carter had his first piano recital on April 21st. He played 2 songs and did a great job. Cadan & Bradley are such great friends. One day while the kids were at school Cadan came over to play. I found them both playing in this tote. They were too cute to pass up taking pictures.

Parker lost his tooth at the end of the month in April and was so excited to finally have a tooth lost like Carter. He was so excited and said to Carter, "We are now twins because we both lost the same tooth." I got a good laugh out of him. Parker don't you know that you are already twins. - cute boys!
