February Happenings

Tanner had his first piano recital after being in piano lessons on February 3rd.  He did a great job.  Sister Long does a great job at teaching and has amazing patience.  Tanner is starting to really progress quickly, but finds himself not wanting to practice as much.  After this recital, he was gung ho about wanting to become as good as some of the other students.  Positive peer pressure is awesome!
On February 7th, Camille's choir sang at the Utah Flash game.  We enjoyed going as a family to see this fun event.  Melissa and Grandpa & Grandma Beck also came to enjoy the fun.  Unfortunately there was a pretty good blizzard outside as we were travelling down, which made for an awful commute.
Parker, Bradley, Carter, Tanner & Johnathan before the game started.
Camille with her choir singing the "Star Spangled Banner."  They did a great job!
After the song they were able to line up as the players made their way onto the court.
Bradley can't get enough of his Aunt Melissa and Grandparents.

For Valentine's Day, I helped out in Carter & Parker's class with their party.  I love going into my children's classrooms to see them in that environment.  I helped with a valentine's craft.  Below Parker is making his craft.

Carter busy making his valentine's box.
Johnathan after school with all of his loot.  I love his valentine carrier.
 Parker with his cool box.
I love this picture that Johnathan made - very creative child!
Bradley was ecstatic to receive two valentines from Eli and Taylee Wilcox.

Byron spoiled me rotten and got me an Ipod Touch 4.  I didn't think I would ever be able to get one since they are so darn expensive.  He surprised me and bought it with some of his sky miles.  I am one spoiled person!  I feel like I am in the 21st century now and have LOVED having it.  Of course my kids steal it all the time to play games on.  Byron &  I love to play Scrabble together.  I also love having all of my music in one place where I can take it with me anywhere, my scriptures and all of the other LDS reading materials to read while waiting in the van.
The Blue & Gold Banquet for scouting was held on February 17th.  We had chili, salad, rolls & cake.  I love the scouting program and loved being able to help with this fun celebration of scouting.  I brought around 30 balloons that I purchased before the party.  I didn't realize how difficult it would be to keep them from popping.  It was very tricky, but I only lost one while transferring them to my house, into my bedroom, then back to my van, and on to the church.

For President's Day we enjoyed going as a family to Salt Lake.  We went to Welfare Square and had a tour.  Byron & I went a few years back alone, so it was really fun with our children this time.  The videos and presentations are so informative.  My children's favorite part was the free chocolate milk, cheese and bread following the tour.

We then headed over to the Church Museum.  They have a fun new exhibit.  We weren't able to enjoy it as much as we had hoped due to how crowded it was.

These computer have touch screens with games - they were a huge hit!

Camille in her fun Mexican skirt.
Bradley working in the garden picking vegetables.
Parker, Tanner & Johnathan.
I went to the mall with Bradley and paid for him to ride the train.  Boy did he talk about this for many days after.  He loved it!
Johnathan was so excited to attend Clear Creek.  He went from February 23-24th and had a great time.  The snow was about 3 feet deep and it ended up snowing while they were there also.   He loved snowshoeing the best.  He stayed in a cabin with about 20 bunk beds.  Johnathan was on top bunk.  Jackson Eastmond, Jarod Berg, and Randy Jarvis were some of his good friends in the same cabin with him.  He came home around 1:30 on Thursday and was very tired.  What a fun activity the 5th graders get to do each year.
