Johnathan's Eagle Project

Johnathan asked the local elementary school, Sego Lily, if they had any Eagle Projects that they would like to have done.  Of course the principal jumped on this and wanted Johnathan to help her with a new program they would be doing in the school for the 2014-15 school year.  It was an "Anti-bullying program."  Johnathan's part was to create a mailbox to have in every classroom that the kids could leave messages in if they were dealing with bullying.  Since this was a new program, we also needed to come up with an idea for the look.  Mrs. Johnson had suggested using tree stumps that were hallowed out.  She wanted them to have a certain look like you would see in a show about Trolls with leaves on them and wood.  Since we figured that would be way too hard, we went with the pvc pipe instead, spray painting them, and covering them with fake leaves and moss.  Johnathan had to make a prototype first to get it approved, then make 50 more of them.  He is such a great leader and really motivated.  He took this project under his wings and did a fabulous job.  After a few ideas and trying to make things work, we finally had a finished product.  Then the fun part of replicating them.  He had some great helpers come over and also his family to make this all happen.  There were 13 different people who helped him for a total of 72.5 hours.  On August 22 we took all of the mailboxes to Sego Lily to present them to Mrs. Johnson.  What a great feeling to have this done and for these kids to use through out the school year.  Yeah - one more project done.

Johnathan sanding down the PVC pipe along with Matthew Lemon and his brothers.  Tad Jacobs joined them for the fun spray painting part.  We had a thin film of paint all over our garage.

Cooper and Cameron were great to help with the gluing part to make them look like mailboxes.  So many hands sure made light work.

Johnathan next to a banner for this cool new program.  Way to go Johnathan!!!
